Most notable policy additions/changes on the June 2024 handbook:

Attendance Expectations

  • Clearly defines Horizon's attendance expectations for all employees.
  • Reasonable advance notice is now considered 48 hours in advance of the scheduled absence. In certain situations, such as emergencies or sudden illness, employees should notify their supervisor at least 1 hour before the start of their scheduled shift.

Progressive Discipline Policy Based on Type of Misconduct

  • The Company encourages a system of progressive discipline depending on the type of prohibited conduct. Examples of employee conduct that would lead to discipline and the usual course of disciplinary action have been separated into groups according to the usual severity and impact of the infraction.  Horizon Realty Advisors reserves the right to determine the appropriate level of discipline for any performance or conduct issues, including oral and written warnings, suspension with or without pay, demotion, or discharge.

Workplace Conduct

  • Because everyone may not have the same idea about proper workplace conduct, it is helpful to adopt and enforce rules all can follow. This policy provides examples of some, but not all, conduct which can be considered unacceptable in the workplace.

Remote-Work Conduct

  • As our workforce continues to operate with some employees working at locations other than Horizon Realty Advisors' offices, the remote-work conduct policy sets clear expectations for remote workers.

Smoke- And Vape-Free Workplace

  • Horizon Realty Advisors is committed to providing a safe and healthy workplace and to promoting the health and well-being of its employees. As such, this policy has been adopted and applies to all employees, contractors and visitors of Horizon Realty Advisors.

Hiring Relatives/Employee Relationships

  • Although this policy does not prevent the development of friendships or romantic relationships between co-workers, it does establish boundaries as to how relationships are conducted during working hours and within the working environment.

Volunteerism

  • Employees who have completed the 90-day introductory period may take up to 8 hours of paid time off per year to participate in their specific volunteer program. Please refer to the policy for more information.

Birthday Hours & Anniversary Gifts

  • Please refer to the policies for more information.
