We're converting users of the desktop Office/Microsoft 365 apps over to the Microsoft 365 Web Apps. This will prevent licensing issues and will help to keep documents organized, especially when people are using a shared PC.
How to get Microsoft 365 Web Apps
First, close any open Microsoft/Office 365 programs like Word, Excel and Outlook in Windows.
Once they are closed, right click on any of the Office/365 (Word, Excel, Outlook) icons remaining on the taskbar and select Unpin from taskbar for each.
This won't uninstall the apps, but will avoid clutter and confusion by removing them from the taskbar
Next, open the browser and go to portal.office.com and sign in if prompted. If you are signed in automatically but it's not the account you wish to use, click the circular icon with either a picture or initials of the signed in user in the top right and click Sign in with a different account.
Once logged in, look at the right side of the address bar for one or more greyed out icons that will display text when you hover your cursor over them. Click the one that says Install Microsoft 365.
That will pin a new icon for Microsoft 365 to the taskbar.

Opening that will give you access all the Office/Microsoft 365 apps within a web app, and when a document is opened or created it will open in its own browser tab.
Adding Outlook PWA
Outlook can be opened in its own web app window and be pinned to the taskbar in the same way as the other Microsoft 365 Web App
To do this, open outlook from portal.office.com. In the address bar, click the icon at the end of the right side of the address bar that says Install Outlook (PWA), which will create a new outlook icon on the taskbar. Right click the taskbar icon and select 'pin to taskbar' if it isn't already pinned.
